Designer name: Husam El Odeh

Origin: Husam is German with a Lebanese and Palestinian background. He has lived in London for twelve years.

Design background: Having studied Fine Art in Berlin and Chelsea, Husam turned to jewellery at Middlesex University. He started his label while still at college.

Design signatures: “Hand-made luxury jewellery with an intelligent twist and a personal touch.”

Career highlight: “Winning the British Fashion Award 2010 for Emerging Talent - Accessories.”

How would you describe the Husam El Odeh woman? “Stylish, confident and sophisticated.”

Trademark piece: “My Silver Pencil necklace. But people seem to remember the spoons quite a lot too.”

Brand philosophy: “Locally produced in London. Every master has been made by me personally. Even though my work is very contemporary, I use very traditional techniques and take a lot of pride in the quality of finish.”

Price range at retail: £150 for a necklace to £600 for a large cuff.

Three spring/summer 2012 inspirations: “Perfume bottles, blue roses and luggage tags.”

What’s next for your brand? “I guess you will have to wait and see!”

Who are your design heroes? “Karl Lagerfeld and Ann Demeulemeester.”

What’s your favourite cultural hotspot in the capital? “The British Museum”.
