Teatum Jones

'Sometimes it Snows in April'
A film by Nicolai Amter and Jez Lysaght

Creative Directors - Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones
Model – Caroline Debruhl at IMG
Stylist – Kate Rose Morris
Make-up – Ciara O'Shea with Chanteuse and Obsessive Cosmetics
Hair – Michael Jones at Bumble and Bumble
Location – 003 by Teatum + Teatum
Music – Jon Cox at Wildaboutnothin'

Synopsis: Teatum Jones' SS12 film drew inspiration from the female characters in 20th century novels such as Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar and Richard Yates' Revolutionary Road. The characters of April Wheeler and Esther Greenwood inspired the different facets to the film's female character in reference to their attitude to marriage, creative ambitions and society's expectations of the male and female roles in 1950s American suburbia. What is most intriguing is the struggle between the emotions the female characters actually experience and the emotions they are socially permitted to display. A seemingly habitual symptom created while aspiring to the idea of the perfect suburban life, a lifestyle that was essentially designed to keep reality at bay.

Vassilisa

'VASSILISA Birds Collection'

Director, post production and sound design: Luca de Salvia

Dop: Philip James

This studio based video, recreates the feeling of wind-swept feathers in the forest. The camera observes the model as she interacts with the wind and the elements in this abstract and choreographed representation of the Russian fairy tale Vassilisa...
The soundtrack is a mash up of sounds of wind, and birds feather mixed with a subtle piano track.

Accessories Programme

Featuring films by (on a loop):

Charlotte Olympia

'To Die For'

Director - Jam
Starring - Portia Freeman

Synopsis: For autumn/winter 2011 the Charlotte Olympia collection draws its inspiration from the playful intrigue, vibrant characters and glamorous settings of Agatha Christie's novels.
Skilfully crafting a narrative with this season's designs, the collection is presented in 'To Die For', a short film directed by fashion photographer Jam.
A surreal murder mystery, the film typifies Jam's striking sense of tonality, colour and space, perfectly complementing the Charlotte Olympia signature aesthetic of sensuality and femininity.
British model Portia Freeman stars as the film's heroine, the beautiful Lady Webb, whose lavish world is filled with curious relationships and sinister undertones.
Lady Webb's unique beauty and the film's opulent settings, filmed on location at London's Blake's Hotel, create the perfect medium through which to explore the collection's enigmatic essence and rich use of colours.
'To Die For' is a striking portrait of menacing beauty that exquisitely showcases the Charlotte Olympia autumn/winter 2011 collection.

House of Flora

Synopsis: Tribal chic, religious and cultural undertones in House of Flora's new spring/summer 2012 bring together an accumulation and celebration of summer adorned by sunbeams in the energetic video by Ryan Parry. A playful nod to Grace Jones, Keith Haring pop art and gestures of Josephine Baker create an atmosphere of a summer carnival party, as if even the paintings themselves could come alive to the beat of infectious dance.

Jane Carr

Tatty Devine

Model - Jacqueline Bolton
MUA - Kinga Markovic
Hair - Magda Tucholska
Clothing - Katie Mills
Stylist - Lou Clarke
Stylist assistant - Emily Pritchard
Additional models - Isabel Dellar and Xanthe Harman
Assistant camera - Denisha Anderson
Editing, VFX, Colouring - Jamie Munton

Synopsis: As Jacque awakes in the forest she is unsure of where or why she is there. As she follows a trail scattered with hidden pieces of jewellery which acts as clues to her whys and wheres she starts to encounter flash backs from the night before, as they become more frequent they invoke a trance like feeling of the night before. A sense of familiarity and comfort ensues as she catches a glimpse of the final object...

"My inspiration came from child hood fairy tales like forest based Hansel and Gretel teamed with traditional craft ideas, such as patchwork quilts and crochet, to follow along side the origin of the patchwork jewellery range. The script was written around the time of the London riots so the film ends with a subconscious comforting ending after the chaotic flash back scenes."

Sunday 18th September, 9.30am - 6.30pm

Ready-to-wear Programme

Featuring films by (on a loop):

Charlotte Taylor

Director and Producer - Harrimansteel
Photographer – Claire Pepper
Music – Jonathan Buckett
Editor- John Langham
Model – Fifi – Models 1
Hair and Makeup – Camilla Hewitt

Synopsis:
Japanese art and culture, bee-keeping and fishing provide the stimuli for spring/summer 2012 – Charlottes' fourth collection.
For our short film, the geometric and repeat patterns of the season bring thoughts to classic kaleidoscopes – they flip, twist and repeat in a playful and graphic fashion.
A prominent craftsmanship is revealed in the editing of the footage – eliciting mysticism, eclecticism and sophistication. The result is mesmerizing and graphic, underlining the characteristics of the Charlotte Taylor patterns.

Designers Remix

'Designers Remix Signature'

Design - Charlotte Eskildsen, Designers Remix
Photographer - Jens Langkjaer
Hair - Nina Larsen
Make-up - Marie Thomsen, Agentur
Model - Melodie Dagault, Elite Models London
Music - Mike Sheridan

The Film:
Designers Remix Signature is Charlotte Eskildsen's exclusive line, designed with an avant-garde angle on sophistication.
Wings of desire form the foundation for this season's homage to architecture in LA. From post-modern skyscrapers to soft edged geometric structures. The look is ultra streamlined, lean and mean with loads of black and white signalling a new minimalism. Opposites attract with voluminous tops worn with skinny pencil skirts or slim slacks. Lengths are taken to the extreme in either really long or really short styles. Forever items include the über original black and white blouse that comes full circle. The tuxedo re-vamped in white with a glimpse of black behind the white lapel. Brilliant boleros. A white sleeveless crepe de chine cocktail dress with voluptuous folds on one side. Plunging v-lines in the back of a super slender dress. Sultry transparencies. And a gathered bustier dress with an off-kilter zipper.
Charlotte's signature 3D folds appear in ingenious new formations. Watch for layers of feather-like wings and the art of draping echoed in angular fans in the back. Billowy gathered bodices reminiscent of Cristo's architectural antics. And asymmetrical flower petal accents on a bulbous sleeved dress - even more apparent from an aerial view

Inspiration: Wings Of Desire (Der Himmel über Berlin, 1987) - an angel tires of overseeing human activity and wishes to become human when he falls in love with a mortal.

Susana Bettencourt

'Conductive Wire of life'

Synopsis: What connects us all? How do our journeys cross? What makes our life's wire tangle? What makes you remember?
A shared moment, an experience, an interaction.
Gestures, feelings, sensations, intertwined perceptions, make up the base fabric of life represented through light, colour and shape.
The journey from old to new, the connection from memory to contemporaneity weaves itself in our shared experiences. This collection is about our interaction as human beings, how our journeys cross, how our wires of life entangle. The same moment is experienced in different ways depending on the perspective. The inspiration is the map built in the designer's mind when imagining these journeys, these wires and the cross roads. Nowadays the literary representation of our connections as human beings is the electricity, the wires that connect us all in the world.

Synopsis:
"The eyes watch from above, through the gates of mystery. Bells ring from the distance. The dream is suspended. Symbols of ancient magic rituals and objects of desire. There's a masked woman with crystal eyes and gold spiked snakes around her neck. Stars. Idols.Chains. Long shear drapes unveil the nudity. The innocence is lost.
Eyes. Horns. The girl is surrounded by the ghost of forgotten beauty. Pearls. They touch. They follow. It's darkness against the light. They are together. They need each other. They shared the same destiny. FORTUNA."

Inspirations:
MFP - Maria Francesca Pepe ‘s FW 11-12  'FORUNA' accessories are amulets.
Objects of magical meaning and of inner strength. A mask hides and reveals at the same time. Eyes are a mirror for the soul.
Elements of tribal cultures and remote ceremonials become avant-garde. Horns of ancient idols become alien cyber-punk presence.
There is a subtle Japanese Manga reference in the way these ornaments are conceived almost as toys,
their shape tough and ergonomic at the same time.
See through organza bondage masks are hand embroidered with steel, crystals and pearls to create juxtaposed face ornaments.
It’s MFP jewellery make-up.
A tiara forged in the shape of eyes is reminiscent of the Egyptian cult of RA as well as of the paleo-Christian symbol of God.
A multitude of eyes become earrings, rings, and chains for an updated romantic version of MFP’s signature Jewellery-Wear.
MFP iconic Tubulars get studded with brass, pearls and crystals, for an upgraded version of the renaissance ruff.
The same mix of tough, pure and glamour is designed for rings and cuffs and for the ironic prints of the jersey range
which are printed with pierced and jewellery embellished faces of pop glamour icons.

This season palmer//harding has worked with director Malcolm Pate and LOVE magazine men's fashion director Anders Sølvsten Thomsen to create a short film which debuts at the British Fashion Council Cinema during London Fashion Week. The film stars Vogue cover model Egle Jezepcikaite and Matt Bell, and is described by the director as:

"Employing the Victorian 'Pepper's Ghost' effect to create ephemeral projections in-camera without the use of any digital special effects. palmer//harding's video explores the reflection of a young couple lost in the ebb and flow of the layers and memories of one another."

Peter Pilotto

Synopsis: Abstract florals, leaves, and imagery drawn from microscopic views of fabric, metallic thread, and mercury are the key graphic motifs in the collection. California beach culture, evident in the clover prints and sunny colours evoke the joyous spirit of the season. As always, Pilotto and De Vos engineer the design and placement of all prints for each individual garment; a technological design feat that has become a calling card of the brand.
The kinetic, optical artworks of Walter Leblanc were the source of the designers' colour inspiration. With the clashing primary colours, the collection alludes to the Belgian artist's series of brightly painted and torqued plastic from the 1960's. Other riotous combinations of intense, pure colors drawn from nature are also found throughout the collection: sulfur yellow, mercury blue, and shades of red take centre stage.

Baartmans & Siegel

BAARTMANS AND SIEGEL MRTW SPRING/SUMMER 2012
'Dust Drifters'

Collection: Baartmans and Siegel
Shoes: Grenson
Director/Photographer: Anna Victoria Harvey
Model: Deano- D1Models

This season looks at the creation of a character derived from an arid landscape, one that has risen and been re-absorbed by a transitory atmosphere.
Baartmans and Siegel continue to look at a classic, internally generated masculinity, which travels to an outward, defined aesthetic of individual aspects, particles, fibres, grouping together to form a unity.
'Dust Drifters' concentrates on the unity of physical representation of man and the unseen, silent insertion into an isolated natural landscape. Invested strength inhaled, and digested particles of the earth, propel a lost soul to modern incarnation.
