WHAT a difference a season makes. After last season's angry black-clad, red-faced models, this season the Dutch duo went girly and doll like. (Faces were in the audience were red this time instead, so boiling were we having been made to bask in the heat outside as they sorted out technical problems).

Two giant dresses appeared at the end of the catwalk with gorgeous French singing duo Brigitte perched on top of them to sing throughout as the models appeared from under their skirts. We always love a Viktor & Rolf spectacle and today's was kooky as ever with dresses - described aptly by SHOWstudio's Alex Fury as "polly pocket" style - of coral brocade or black silk carrying huge blanket stitching of contrasting pink or blue. They had halter necks and A-line skirts with frilled, tiered hemlines held on by more giant stitches, with little bra tops to match.

Backcombed huge ponytails tied down by little coloured satin bows exaggerated the toy-like quality of the models, as did their red eyelash extensions and heels featuring big ruffles of turquoise leather over each foot.

Pale peach silk trenches had stiff butterfly wing lapels and fitted dresses with lacy frills at the shoulders and black mesh baroque swirls cut out of them were styled with huge ornate corsets and bejewelled, round sunglasses.

Then came the finale of tiered party dresses, some with asymmetrical bursts of tulle on one side - a feature Viktor & Rolf like to redeploy to varying degrees occasionally. In candy pink, they were smothered with jewels, in black they were finished with exaggerated stitches of bold glittering ribbons in turquoise or green threaded through the silk skirts in a flurry of flamenco ripples.

We prefer a little fun on the Viktor & Rolf catwalk and today gave us just that - along with plenty of cocktail glamour for the label's Hollywood following to play with.
