Show Report

EMILIO DE LA MORENA expanded his much-loved repertoire of sexy, body-skimming dresses to take on a girlier, floatier aspect today that will surely expand his customer base with one fell swoop.

It's the Spanish designer's fifth season on the official schedule, and with female wiles at the forefront as ever, the dresses were intricately fitted together with panels of ruched chiffon, origami silk and sheer panels that fanned upwards from the waistband, mirroring the full bursts of organza ballerina skirts below them in lilac or peachy pink.

It was a shot of innocence where usually we expect a very grown-up allure, and it's hard to work out how it worked, but it did. The intricacies of construction were as painstaking for evening as for day - and no matter when you plan to wear them, they'll be as provocative as can be, with even the sides of full, swishy skirts cut away to show off mini, bodycon dresses beneath.

Inspired by American clay sculptor Michael Lucero, de la Morena splashed multi-coloured stripes onto waistbands and overlaid them with black chiffon, while bright pops of cashmere in peacock blue, fuchsia and coral meant daywear is just as delicious.

These are the sort of statement-making dresses that get you noticed for all the right reasons.

With thanks to Mercedes Benz.
