MAX and Lubov Azria never fail to create something utterly wearable for the BCBG girl, and for spring/summer 2012 it looks as though she’ll be seeing in the new season in bold, bright colour.

The geometric prints, colour-blocked dresses and sporty details (a hooded jacket here, a neon-bright trim there), were youthful and fresh, with flattering V-necklines and the occasional pleated section at the front of a panelled silk dress. Nothing was tight-fitting or overly short, and there was no unnecessary draping, no fussy detailing, no superfluous embellishment to meddle with the clean, modern lines and bright, unabashed colours.

As the show went on, Aztec prints were sparingly introduced - mirrored in the tribal-style shoes each model wore. Monochrome patterns were paired with techno-bright yellow or orange, whilst waistlines were dropped to give a retro, Twenties feel - tempered by cut-outs at the waist and solid black trims.

It was a new approach to the shapes we saw developing last season at BCBG, and certainly a summery, fresh take on the trends already evolving for next season. Though a collection of almost entirely dresses can begin to seem samey after a while they will certainly sell, and diehard BCBG fans will be pleased that the design duo stuck to what they know best.

  1. I love the collection. The fabric of the dresses seems wonderful. I like the coloours: orange, blue, violet and the geometrics.
