Show Report

THERE’S nothing like playing dress up – especially when it’s in someone else’s clothes. This was the idea that Antonio Marras drew upon for his spring/summer 2012 collection today – an homage to Jean Genet’s play The Maids in which the two main characters do play dress up in their mistress’ clothes when she is away.

It could be noted then that this exploration into a new sartorial personality played out via  the two contrasting mix of prints that opened the collection – one a bit smaller than the other, they shared the same shades and floral details, though one more fluid and watercolour-based than the other.

Roses on teal pleats came with yellow pointed shoes beneath for prim daywear – ruffled-neck cardigans followed and then ruched bathing suits, draped cocktail looks and then more graphic-looking black and white prints on coats and dresses.

To end was a series of folkloric looks, just as Marras does best.
