Show Report

STEFANO PILATI took us on safari for his Yves Saint Laurent show today, revisiting the eponymous designer’s heartland – North Africa – for inspiration.

We saw it in the sand, navy and khaki palette which incarnated precision tailoring – from double-breasted jackets to single styles that sat sleekly above easy vest tops and crisp shirts with pristine collars. These same shirts and jackets later came laced up to corsetry effect or with pleats fanning out at the torso - the same corsetry detailing featured on jackets and trousers up next.

Ready for military parade is how the YSL man is greeting the summer sun next season – the cropped jackets and the funnel-necked shirts doing the talking here.

Meanwhile bringing print into the procession, there were snakeskin bombers, belts and shorts and Pilati himself took his bow in a rather fetching leopard print trouser.
