Show Report

AS we’ve seen already this Menswear Week, fashion has a preoccupation with sport for spring/summer 2012 – from golf at Prada to the Olympics at Westwood – and today Angela Missoni added her own take on the trend. Inspired by the birth of the Missoni buisness – at the last London Olympics in 1948, where her parents met – Missoni revisited the sophisticated sporty suits her father Tai designed for the athletes that year. Printed trainers created with Converse, drawstring shorts and breathable knitted tops remained deliberately on the stylish side of sporty, and the Missoni stripes were refreshed and reinvigorated in preppy-cool colourways any Proenza Schouler or Jonathan Saunders fan would be proud to wear. Missoni man’s only problem this season will be keeping his knits out of Missoni woman’s wardrobe.
