FRIDA GIANNINI tapped in to the Cool Britannia trend that's been emerging on Milan’s catwalks with a Gucci show dedicated to snake-hipped lounge lovers who might have been patrons at London's coolest gentleman's clubs in the Sixties.
Whereas DSquared's party boys had a dangerous punk attitude, Frida's posse were more languid - dressed in modern riffs on classic British tailoring. Think super-slim-cut suiting in Prince of Wales checks and houndstooth; trousers cut close to the leg and cropped at the ankle and worn with sockless loafers and lace-ups.
In quieter moments, the Gucci man will be throwing an oversized textured cardigan over a Nehru collared shirt, while a monochrome palette - with accents of plum and mulberry - will be his staple, along with a selection of great coats, macs and cropped leather jackets.
