Show Report

CANADIAN twins Dean and Dan Caten presented a collection for DSquared this morning that was inspired by a fictional American tourist, who arrives in Europe for a summer trip, passing through Scandinavia, Mykonos, Florence and London.

We watched his wardrobe transformation as he arrived to explore the Norwegian fjords in a navy trench coat, worn with a Breton T-shirt, roughed-up jeans, a beanie, mountain boots and an all-weather neck scarf. Moving on to Greece’s party and sun-worshipping scene and he was wearing not a lot, actually. The tiniest orange swimming briefs came with eye-catching purple panels down the side, while the DSquared boy will be heading from beach to bar in a pair of wide-strapped gladiator sandals in burnt oak or purple suede next summer.

Then it was on to Florence for a culture injection and a dose of classic Italian style. To take in the art at the Uffizi, he’s wearing slim-fitting coloured trousers (lemon yellow and orange), with a gingham blazer or a leather bomber jacket – and he’s stepping out in Euro-appropriate deck shoes.

With Florence behind him, it’s time to let loose in London, with rock ‘n’ roll and punk references appearing in a palette of black red and white, S&M detailing in belts and harnesses worn over shirts and very skinny ties.
