Show Report

THE Burberry boy is getting crafty next summer.

“I like all these digital things, but it’s time to do things with human hands,” chief creative officer Christopher Bailey, who is famed for his techno-savvy approach to the Burberry brand (that and his penchant for a good show tune – today The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody), told the International Herald Tribune following today's show.

Moving away from last season’s Sixties mood, Bailey presented us instead with whimsical looks of tribal patterns and ikat prints, all the while still underpinned by English eccentricity – jumpers and macs in shades of orange, forest and sage green, navy and oak. With a hippie vibe, pompom straw caps topped off each look as did appliquéd felt animals on shirts and T-shirts. Next season’s Burberry boy is imbued with bohemian charm.
